Changes0.2.0

In development

Review these steps if you use the affected content or settings.

Decide what happens when a player leaves a match

  1. Set `AutoSurrender=No` under `[Settings]` in `SPAWN.INI` to hand a departed player's base to the computer instead of destroying it.

Affected: leaving-a-match, reconnect-dialog, Client launch file

Declare sides in the side list alone

  1. Declare every side under `[Sides]` in `rules.ini`, listing its countries directly. Expand any side names used in those lists into country names.
  2. For a country already listed under `[Sides]`, edit that list to change its side; its own `Side=` no longer overrides the list.

Affected: Side [housetype], Side [themes], SpeechSide, Rules registration lists

Define sounds with the Yuri's Revenge SOUND.INI keys

  1. Replace sound-section `Volume=` values above `1` in `SOUND.INI` with the intended percentage. Use `Volume=100` for full volume; values above `1` no longer amplify the sample.

Affected: SOUND.INI, Volume [sounds], Priority, Range [sounds], Type [sounds], Sounds, MinVolume, Limit, Loop, LoopLimit, Delay, FShift, VShift, Control, Attack, Decay, Channels

Detect Firestorm from its rules file alone

  1. If the deployment should run without Firestorm, remove or rename its expansion rules file: `FIRESTRM.INI`, or the file selected by `[Files] RulesExpansion` in `OPENTS.INI`. Enabling Firestorm requires `SOUNDS01.MIX`.

Affected: Rules registration lists

Keep a map's crates in every game type

  1. Remove crate overlays from multiplayer maps where you do not want placed crates. Turning off the match's Crates option does not remove them.

Affected: crates, Crate

Make the multiple-factory discount cumulative, as in Red Alert 2

  1. If `MultipleFactory` under `[General]` in `rules.ini` is positive or omitted, set it to the intended build-time multiplier per extra factory. For example, `0.8` gives about 20% shorter builds per extra factory; `0` disables the bonus.

Affected: MultipleFactory, MultipleFactoryCap, production

Read the base and expansion sound and theme files together

  1. Remove unintended overrides from `SOUND01.INI` and `THEME01.INI`, or remove those files if they should not be loaded. Both now apply even without Firestorm.

Affected: SOUND.INI, THEME.INI

Read the multiplayer 155mm and ARTYHE values from the rules

  1. To keep the previous multiplayer artillery values, set `[155mm] Damage=115` and `ROF=150` in `MPLAYER.INI`.
  2. In the same file, set `[ARTYHE] Verses=40%,85%,68%,35%,35%` and `ProneDamage=30%`.

Affected: Verses, ProneDamage, Damage, ROF

Read the overridden type values from the rules

  1. To keep the previous values in every game type, set `[HMEC] Strength=1200` in `rules.ini`.
  2. Set `Cost=250` in the `[GAFSDF]`, `[GAWALL]` and `[NAWALL]` sections of `rules.ini`.
  3. Set `[E2] Explodes=yes` in `rules.ini`.
  4. Set `[NAFNCE] BaseNormal=no` in `rules.ini`.

Affected: BaseNormal, Strength, Cost, Explodes, GuardRange

Recover from an out-of-sync game with a dialog and an in-game multiplayer load

  1. Update tools that look for `SAVEGAME.NET` to use the numbered `SVGM_nnn.NET` files.

Affected: out-of-sync-recovery, Save games, Client launch file, network-packet-validation

Retire the -CD launch option

  1. Replace `-CD<path>` with `-DATADIR=<path>` for the game data directory.
  2. For player overrides, use `-USERDIR=<path>`; settings and saves will also be written there.
  3. For an additional deployment folder, add the path to `SearchPaths` under `[Paths]` in `OPENTS.INI`.

Affected: launch:cd-path

Search the folders a deployment keeps its files in

  1. If `INI`, `MIX` or `Maps` folders contain files the game should not load, set `SearchPaths=.` under `[Paths]` in `OPENTS.INI`, or rename those folders.

Affected: OPENTS.INI

Set a rally point with a plain click

  1. Set `AltToRally=yes` under `[Options]` in `sun.ini` to keep the old rally-point and mobile-factory controls.

Affected: AltToRally, IsMobileWar, production

Turn edge scrolling off with AutoScroll

  1. If `AutoScroll=no` is set under `[Options]` in `sun.ini`, change it to `yes` to keep edge scrolling.

Affected: AutoScroll
