The free MCV the name refers to is real: outside a campaign, a house that has lost its base can be handed one by the next crate it opens, whatever that crate drew. The override that does it reads nothing this key sets, so writing the key either way leaves it exactly as it was — and it is not the last word on the pick either, since one of the conversions that follows can turn the result back into money and take the MCV with it. Choosing the result owns the conditions and that conversion.
